Comparisons

StreamOverlay vs every other overlay tool.

Picking a stream overlay tool isn't one decision — it's three. Are you buying templates or generating custom output? Do you want a video file or a browser source? Do you need a streaming-first tool or a general design tool? The fair, factual comparisons below answer each question with specifics.

How we wrote these comparisons

Each page is checked against the competitor's public documentation, pricing pages, and export options. We name specific limitations (Canva's MP4 has no alpha; browser sources spawn a Chromium instance) only when they're verifiable. We name strengths (OWN3D's library size, StreamElements' integrated alert system, Canva's design polish) whenever they apply — these are real tools and most streamers benefit from using them.

StreamOverlay is at the comparison points because it solves a specific job other tools do partially: transparent animated overlay files with seamless loop math, exported in OBS-friendly formats. For everything outside that job, those other tools are often the right pick. The comparisons make the boundary clear.
